The final stage for the avid November 9 finally came and the World Series of Poker (WSOP) crowned a champion for 2010. This time it was Canadian poker player Jonathan Duhamel who took the bracelet home along with the $8.9 million first prize.

7,319 players began the battle for the coveted 2010 WSOP Main Event bracelet and these were the players who proved to be the strongest with their respective chip counts at the beginning of the final table: (more…)

The Rio Casino & Resort in Las Vegas started hosting the World Series of Poker (WSOP) 2010. On Friday, the WSOP kicked off and more than 100,000 squared feet of playing space was ready at the casino for them.

The World Series of Poker is once again broadening its horizons and will possibly be making its way to South Africa for the first time this October, with two non-bracelet events tentatively slated to take place at the Emerald Resort and Casino. The events will probably be part of the WSOP-Circuit series.

According to TimesLive.co.za WSOP Africa is looking to offer two events from Oct 24-31, one being a three-day $1,100 buy-in pot-limit Omaha (more…)

pokerhalloffame.JPGTo be eligible for nomination to the Poker Hall of Fame a player must fulfill the following accomplishments:

  • They must have played poker against acknowledged top competition
  • Played for high stakes
  • Play consistently well
  • To have stood the test of time
  • For non-players, they must have contributed to the overall growth and success of the game

 This year the Poker Hall of Fame let the public vote for their favourite player to be inducted into the poker HoF. However, this resulted in a lot of inaccuracies in which the candidates chosen did not fulfill all requirements and it was more a popularity contest. So the Poker HoF official board members had tu cut down the list and eliminate players like Tom ‘durrrr’ Dwan.
