Two of the largest companies in the casino industry have already started paving the way for their return to the legalized US online gambling market.
Harrah’s recently launched their online gambling venture in the United Kingdom and plan to bring it to the US if the market gets regulated. PartyGaming used to cater the US audience but it withdrew from doing saw when the UIGEA was approved in 2006.
At an interview with Gary Loveman, chief executive of Harrah’s Entertainment, he said that online gambling is the only way to prop up his company’s bottom line in the near future. He also made it clear that Harrah’s has intentions to expand its land casinos to Asia and  to bring their online gambling venture to Italy and France and to the US once it is legal.
In July 2009, PartyGaming completed a multi-million dollar settlement with the US Justice Department and began conversations with American companies to for strategic partnerships for the benefits of exploiting the legalized US online gambling market, which is the largest one in the world.
This gives me a positive feeling about the current situation but at the same time I get very nervous thinking that the deadline for the UIGEA implementation keeps getting closer. What do you think will happen?
