In Finland the Slot Machine Association, Rahaautomaattiyhdistys (RAY), holds exclusive rights for gambling operations in the country. In an attempt to tie up with a reputable software provider to provide gambling services online, the association floated a tender and now it has been announced they awarded the contract to no other than Playtech.
“Through our formal tender process it was clear that Playtech not only satisfied all requirements but had the best solutions for these challenges.” said Janne Perakyla, Executive Director of gaming operations at RAY.
Rahaautomaattiyhdistys (RAY) operates over 19,000 slot machines in over 8,400 locations in Finland. It also runs the country’s only casino, the Grand Helsinki. The company reported €651 million in revenues as of 2009. As a result of their good reports, the Finnish Government issued the license to them allowing the company to offer online gamlbling services.
The two companies are reputable and they have signed a four year contract. They have agreed to offer online casino and online poker on a Playtech software platform by the third quarter of 2010.
“RAY is an extremely experienced operator and very highly respected by Finnish players and the community as a whole. We very much look forward to working with them to develop the important and highly active Finnish gaming market.” said Mor Weizer, Chief Executive of Playtech.
